David Kessler was the head of the FDA when truth-in-packaging was enacted. He took on the tobacco companies and, as a result, those congressional hearings where all the tobacco execs swore that they didn't believe smoking causes cancer occurred. We have David Kessler to thank for that. In a 60 Minutes interview during his tenure he said, of living in Washington, "I rent", indicating his willingness to go to bat and get shit done, not just succumb to the inertia of politicking.Next time you open a can of soup and the serving size is NOT listed as 2 ounces, say a little thank you to David Kessler.
